Oh, and By The Way

As I failed ever to get around to explaining in my last post, it was Pasang who sold me today an ancient Tibetan mala (108-bead prayer strand, like a rosary, made of sea-shell, so very prized by land-locked Tibetans who only heard stories of oceans. On each large, heavy bead is hand-ccarved om mani padme hum, hail to the jewel in the lotus, which is to say, hail to the potential wisdom and compassion in each of our hearts. I'll show you this necklace when I get back, if you promise not to make fun of it. This necklace hangs to my knees, but hey, maybe I'll be a trend-setter. Jane

Jane,
I cannot wait to see your new necklace with beads that hang to your knees-you are already a fashionista as far as I am concerned! Thanks to Jenna, Sherrie, Tom, Reba and all of you who are sharing your experiences and impressions with those of us who are enjoying your travels and encounters vicariously. I envision the publication of a beautiful book with your writings and pictures-I'll be among the first to request copies. The journey you, Jenna and a few others are about to embark on into places that are like going back in time must have all of you feeling a combination of awe and anticipation. The mystical feel of the land you are traveling in comes through in your writing. Be safe. Suzan M.

Hey Pain!!!
Thanks so much for the wonderful descriptions . . . i especially love your signoff, you Jane Man who is bound to be famous with your giant painting - la!!!

Y'all take care and bring my big strapping guy safely home to me and sweeter than ever, OK?

I am sick, absolutely SICK that i missed his phone call this morning! I didn't hear the phone in time because I was arguing with Max about how to fix Will's ipod, you can tell him that -- and he'll be so happy that he was THERE and not HERE, altho if he had been HERE i would not have been arguing with Max at all, as Tom would have been fixing the ipod instead of me.

Max and Will and Lucky (Myself I said) send hellos and love, as do all of our friends who ask daily about you guys. . .

Have fun in the land where there are no ipods and/or fussing children who miss their mamas and their daddies and their crazy friends. . . especially Jane-Man the Pain-Man.
